Southern Tea Cake Cookies
These cookies are more like tiny cakes. Serve these cookies at dinner with tea when company arrives.
Servings: 36 cakes
- 1 cup shortening
- ½ cup milk
- 1¾ cups sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- In a mixing bowl, cream together shortening and sugar. Then beat in the eggs. Add milk and vanilla. Beat well.
- Stir in flour and mix well. Drop tablespoonful of batter, 2½ inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 350 degrees f for 15-20 minutes.
